Shree Ghanteshwar Hanuman Mandir

About Mandir

Shree Ghanteshwar Hanuman Mandir is an ancient temple, the idol of Shree Hanumanta is Swayambhu. The current president of the organization, Mr. Gopinath Malap, and his then Friends Late. Dilip Bhagane, Late. Ramesh More, Late. Shantaram Laxman Rewale (Bokya), Late. Ramchandra Batawale, Late. Balkrishna Batawale, Late. Krishna Bhagane, Late. Pandurang Nagle, Late. Vasant Surve, Shri Dattaram Gawde, Shri Tukaram Rahate, Shri Ganpat Upalkar used to meet each other regularly at Madhu-Park Udyan Khar West.

He saw in his dream that there was an idol of Hanumanta in the ground at the root of that tree. Not only this, but that idol of Hanumanta actually appealed to Shri Ramesh More in a dream to lift me up from here and install me. I am pleased with you. Then the next day, Ramesh More told his friends about the dream he had last night. Hearing that, everyone decided to go there and see if it was really an idol. Having indeed found the idol, the dream vision was found to be true. Then all of them together established the idol there with the pimpal and banyan trees. And started worshiping there regularly.

After about a year, all of them together installed the idol on the edge of the Madhu-Park garden so that it could be seen from the street outside. And built a small temple there. At that time, everyone collected some money to build the temple. And all the money was collected and the temple was built with that money. And Hanuman Jayanti was celebrated every year. On the day of Hanuman Jayanti, the original place in the Madhu-Park Garden is also worshipped.

In October 2003, the organization was registered in the charity office in the name of Shree Ghantswar Hanuman Jayanti Utsav Mandal, Mumbai. At that time, the work of the organization was done in the premises adjacent to the office of the Shiv-Sena Krida mandal. Within a year after the registration, a concrete office of the Shree Ghantswar Hanuman Jayanti Utsav Mandal was constructed in the said premises. Since then till today the affairs of the organization are being handled from there.

Shree Ghanteshwar Hanuman Mandir is a self-realized shrine. The temple was earlier known as Shri Hanuman Mandir. But Swayambhu Hanumanta’s Leela Agadha… so within a few years numerous brass bells accumulated there. As the vows of the devotees were being fulfilled, brass bells were offered by the devotees. So all these congregations together decided to name the temple as Shree Hantswar Hanuman Mandir. And so it was done. Later this temple became very famous. In course of time some of the pearls among these seven fell out. But other members of the congregation under the leadership of Shri Gopinath Malap have taken immense pains to maintain the temple’s reputation till now. Shri Tukaram Sakharam Rahate’s father Kai. Sakharam Babaji Rahate was observing the worship and cleaning of Hanumanta right from the installation of the idol. After three to four years, Mr. Tukaram Rahate started taking care of the work of worship and cleaning in place of his father. From then till now he is the chief priest of this temple.

“Shri Ghanteshwar Hanuman Jayanti Utsav Mandal, Mumbai” is a registered strong organization. Due to the hard work of the founding members of the organization as well as all other workers, this Jagurt Devasthan has become a name for many years. The organization intends to give a magnificent and divine appearance to the temple, and the organization is thinking of taking positive steps in this direction in the near future.
